Without your natural teeth, you may find there are many things you miss. You may miss having your natural smile, the pleasure of crunching into an apple or sinking your teeth into a mouth-watering steak. Perhaps you feel a little self-conscious about eating or speaking in public or having your photo taken. Your remaining teeth may be shifting or you suffer from muscle strain and headaches. You miss the comfort and confidence you once took for granted.
Whether you’ve lost one tooth or several, whether it’s a recent problem or something you’ve lived with for years, you never fully adjust to losing such an important part of yourself. With the advancements in modern dentistry, dental implants are today’s best alternative to natural teeth – and can be your doorway to renewed self-confidence and peace of mind.
What is a dental implant?
An implant is a small metal anchor that is inserted into the jawbone to take the place of a missing tooth. A dental implant usually consists of the implant body, which is hidden in the bone, and an abutment which is screwed onto the top of the implant. The final tooth restoration is then placed on top of the abutment.

- Facilitate more aesthetic treatment options
- Long-term tooth replacement option
- Scientifically proven (dental implants have been placed since 1965)
Dental implants process
Dr Mark does a preliminary examination and takes time to talk through your individual needs. At this time he gathers information specific to you which helps plot the right course of action for your individual treatment.
To plan a comprehensive individualised treatment plan, first we need to gather data that is utilised in your diagnosis.
We do a CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) which is easily done in our surgery – this fancy type of X-ray provides a 3-dimensional image of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone which is sent to a radiographer for reading and generation of a report back to Dr Mark.
This is a crucial piece of the puzzle for diagnosing and planning your treatment.
This scan is then uploaded to a software which allows Dr Mark to apply his knowledge to review your individual make-up and design how the implant will be placed, determining the depth of bone and if there is a need for any surgical intervention to provide an optimal outcome.
At this complimentary session Dr Mark will sit with you to present his findings and proposed treatment plan for optimal outcome. This allows time for one on one discussion and for you to ask any questions and fully understand the process and the treatment. Dr Mark will outline his healing protocol that is highly recommended for you to follow to ensure the best result (reduced bruising and swelling). You will be presented with the full investment analysis and if interested you may wish to investigate the 18 Months Interest Free* payment plan.
After all of this careful planning and consultation and you have accepted the treatment plan, appointments will be booked and you will be provided with a clear strategy outlining the expected length of treatment and healing phases.
Who is a suitable candidate for dental implants?
Providing sufficient bone is available, implant treatment can be provided to most patients. However, treatment limitations may be present for patients with medical preconditions (uncontrolled diabetes, clotting disorders, osteoporosis, etc), pregnant women and smokers.
It is important you share your medical and dental history during your first appointment. During your consultation, Dr Mark will discuss and assess your eligibility for dental implant treatment. With his vast experience he will provide all options from the straight forward case to the complex case dependent on your individual needs.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost of dental implants is determined on a case by case basis, taking into account your individual needs and circumstances (eg. missing single or multiple teeth). As a basis though, implants alone start from $2,300. Dr Mark will be able to assess your situation during your consultation and provide a tailored treatment plan and quote.
To help manage the cost of this treatment you may wish to take advantage of the 18 Months Interest Free* finance available at our practice. *Credit approved applicants only. Fees, terms and conditions apply.
