FAQS – Dental Implants
A Dental Implant is basically an artificial tooth. They are designed to permanently replace missing teeth and will restore full function and appearance with a very natural looking tooth.
A dental implant is created from a strong biocompatible material. In a very simple procedure we bury the implant in bone and leave it for a period of time to bond. After this time we will uncover the implant and connect it to a small metal post that secures the artificial tooth. Given the implant bonds to the bone you can expect the implant to be every bit as strong as a natural tooth. We can give you a clearer timeframe dependent on your circumstances. The type of bone and where the implant is to be placed in your jaw will impact this timeframe. Generally it can range from a few months to over 9 months.
